ABSTRACT. We consider the Nernst-Planck-Navier-Stokes system describing the electrodiffusion of ions in a viscous Newtonian fluid. We prove the exponential nonlinear stability of constant steady states in the case of periodic boundary conditions in any dimension of space without constraints on the number of species, valences and diffusivities. We consider also the case of two spatial ...

I will be speaking today, as I have in the recent past, on the history of international law. I must confess that I never thought of myself as a historian until recently when, as I skim the newspaper in the mornings, I tend to think that nothing really interesting seems to have happened since the French Revolution. But perhaps that is the nature of historical work; one becomes completely ...

Recent advances in SDD design means that the latest generation of these detectors not only offer all the advantages of being liquid nitrogen-free and excellent energy resolution at high count rates, but now large active area detectors like X-Max also allow users to collect large amounts of data in shorter time periods, at lower excitation voltages, and under normal SEM imaging conditions.

Abstract—With the explosive spread of smart mobile devices, Mobile CrowdSensing (MCS) has been becoming a promising paradigm, by which a platform can coordinate a group of workers to complete large-scale data collection tasks using their mobile devices. In this paper, we investigate the incentive mechanism design in MCS systems, taking the freshness of collected data and social benefits into ...

We generalize the classical Legendre-Hadamard conditions by using quadratic extensions of the energy around a set of two configurations and obtain new algebraic necessary conditions for nonsmooth strong local minimizers. The implied bounds of stability are easily accessible as we illustrate on a nontrivial example where quasiconvexification is unknown.
